Friday Favourites for 20/4/12

All that stands between myself and the end of my first year is one exam on Tuesday – I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. University has been quite an experience academically. I learned quite some bit and am hopefully prepared to do much better in second year. However, I’m ready for four months of no classes and am on a hectic search for a job (if you live in Ottawa and you’re a hiring business … please contact me)!  My posts will be much more frequent once I’m completely done, so make sure you’re coming back!

But because of my final journalism exam, I have to make sure I’m not relaxing too much this weekend. Either way, here are some of this week’s favourites!

My aunt back home in Serbia posted this photo of their golden retriever on Facebook. Had to put it as a favourite – he’s adorable!

I’ve been playing Dark Paradise by Lana Del Rey on repeat all week. Absolutely in love with the song and lyrics. Hopefully she puts out a music video for this song next.

NARS released their Spring 2012 line earlier this week. I checked out their new items on Temptalia a while ago and if I had the money, I probably would have purchased the majority of the products. I’m especially loving the shadow pencil!

I’ve been watching so many haul videos from IMATS NYC as it went on last weekend. Makes me super excited for Toronto IMATS in November; seems like people got some amazing deals!

As someone who worked in customer service and retail, these 12 Tips for Working in Retail Without Killing Everyone Around You are a hilarious read.

Poli Sci Ryan Gosling is a dream come true.

I’m excited to finally have time starting next week to try all the recipes collecting on my Pinterest board. Especially this , spinach and mushroom quiche. It looks delicious!

Finally, I have to include this weeks episode of Glee. It was adorable. I couldn’t stop squealing. Saturday Night Glee-ver was just too good.

Hopefully your weekends are much more relaxing than mine!

Friday Favourites: Spring time cravings

Here’s another Friday Favourite post not too late in the day, gathering some of this week’s loveliest things that I have discovered! After an exciting reading week of working away on assignments (please note the sarcasm), I am now snowed into my home for the day. This is the only fun I’ll be having for the evening, so enjoy the following!

Thakoon for NARS nail collection

Kate Daley, an editor over at Chatelaine magazine, tweeted (@katedaley1) a picture last week of a preview of the new NARS nail polish collection coming out this May. These spring colours just make me crave the sunshine even more now.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Natasha in Berry Haze

On my wish list. This cross body bag is retailing at $368 on marcjacobs.com, but they only have the bag in Cherry Red and Sugar. Nordstorm is also selling the Natasha in Blossom - another perfect shade for the upcoming warmer months. If someone loves me enough to buy me this bag, you’d be my best friend.

Prada’s 2012 Open-toe Shoe Collection

They’re inspired by classic American cars. I saw a preview of these heels a while ago and was recently reminded of them when Emma Roberts posted a photo on Instagram of her new pair earlier this week. They’re all ridiculously good looking – now I just need somewhere to where them to. And the money to buy a pair.

Homemade Cheese Tea Biscuits

My mother went crazy baking biscuits last night after getting a recipe from a friend. They’re extremely quick to whip up and make a good breakfast with a mug of coffee! I plan on doing a recipe post on these in the next few days (hopefully).

Vogue March 2012

Got my hands on a copy of the newest issue of Vogue and it’s over 600 pages of fashion. If you haven’t gotten your copy yet, what are you waiting for?

Friday Favourites: Valentine’s Day special!

My first Friday Favourite’s post has been saved in lieu of Valentine’s day! Whether you’ll be spending a nice evening with your significant other, going out with a group of friends, or watching reruns of Friends alone trying to forget the holiday, there’s a bit of something for everyone in this post!

1. Wear your heart on your sleeve . . . or all over yourself.

I like floral printed anything. What I like more than floral printed anything is HEART printed anything. Even if you’re not a fan of Valentine’s day, you can’t deny that these pieces are adorable. You might even recognize the Wildfox sweater that Taylor Swift has! Note: I’ll be making a post with outfit ideas for Valentine’s day so be sure to check back on that!

2. Pink Heart Lock Crossbody Bag in Raspberry (Top Shop, £25.00)

Top Shop

3. Cupid’s Arrow Cupcakes (via Bakerella)

These red velvet cupcakes look like a great baking project to tackle this weekend! I also highly recommend checking out bakerella.com for more recipes. Even if you decide not to make any, her photos are also nice to just look at!

4. A Charlie Brown Valentine

I will always love Peanuts holiday specials, no matter how old I am. Pretty sure most people feel the same way. If you won’t be around to catch the special on TV, there’s alway someone who has posted the episode on YouTube!

5. Conversation Heart Cookies (via Cupcakes and Cashmere)

Some more holiday baked goods!

6. Silly Love Stories (via Jezebel)

Are you the mystery person in Montepelier, Vermont, who has been posting hearts all over town? Check out that and some more interesting stories.

7. The Vow (2012)

Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams in a chick flick? I’m not usually a movie person but I will definitely be seeing this. Even if McAdams has already played the role of someone who has lost her memory.

8. Je Veux – Zaz

Parisian Jazz singer, Isabelle Geffroy (her nickname is Zaz), emerged into the French music scene by starting off as a street singer, collecting change from the French walking by. Now she’s topping the charts in France and several other countries within Europe. If you’re not familiar with French, I suggest you look up the lyrics in English!

9. M.A.C. Lipstick in Party Parrot and Pink Pigeon (CA $17.50 each)
MAC released a new line of colours for their lipsticks, all with bird-related names, and the Party Parrot sold out very quickly. It’s selling for about $70 on websites such as Amazon. They’re both such lovely colours, extremely vibrant, but perfect for spring. Hopefully I manage to find the shades at my local MAC. Not entirely Valentine’s Day related, but if you can find the shade, it’s a perfect pink to wear on a date!
10. Lush: The Ex-factor
This is one of Lush’s bath bombs that are limited for sale around Valentine’s Day. It’s described as a musky-creamy vanilla scent. I like it much better than Leap Frog (one of their other Valentine’s Day bath bombs) and the video on “How to use the Ex-factor” is adorable.
